The Mid-Autumn Festival falls on the 15th day of the eighth lunar month In ancient times, people used to offer elaborately made cakes to the moon spirit on this day After making this symbolic offering, a family would enjoy eating the cakes together The festival eventually came to carry the idea of a happy family reunion and the custom has been passed down to this day Return to: China Homepage
