Just dial the international prefix 00, plus country code 86, area code and
number Look for roadside kiosks with the IDD sign IDD calls have a
three-minute minimum charge; additional time thereafter is calculated
by the minute If you call between 9 pm and 7 am the next morning, the
rates are half the daytime price

The IDD code of China is 0086

The use of Card phones is fairly widespread in China and can be the
simplest and the cheapest way to make calls in China There are two
types of phone cards -

Older magnetic cards

Newer "Smart cards"

Magnetic phone cards can be used only in the province in which you buy
them; Smart cards can be used all over China
