Chipping Campden in Cotswolds is a small market town located in Gloucestershire, England. It is well known for its high terraced streets that look elegant and graceful which were built around the 14th century so date back quite a while!
Chipping used to be very prestigiously known for its ability to trade wool within the middle ages and enjoyed the patronage of wealthy wool merchants. Nowadays, Chipping Campden Cotswolds is more popular for its tourist attractions as many have come to realise what a beautiful, tranquil and relaxing place it can be. Also many have made it a popular place to visit with all of its old inns, hotels, specialist shops and restaurants.
You cannot beat its ancient and antique limestone buildings, which were made from the mellow locally quarried oolitic limestone material also known as Cotswold stone, and boasts a wealth of fine vernacular architecture. Within the centre of this quaint town lies the renowned Market Hall with its intricate arches, built in 1627.
Apart from its fascinating architecture, some other things that you must see when you visit Chipping Campden Cotswolds is its grand early perpendicular wool church of St James - with its medieval altar frontals. Chipping Campden is quite a central place also as it is near to surrounding shire counties of Oxfordshire, Worcestershire and Warwickshire.
