All embassies issuing Schengen visa have now switched to the automatic appointment phone
booking system. Call the appropriate number depending on where you stay in UK. We applied
to the London Consulate which is at

Make sure you call up well in advance of your trip. Atleast 6 weeks to 1 month because it is
very difficult to get an appointment during busy holiday periods. We got an appointment just 2
days prior to our flight date and would have surely cancelled out holiday had they taken more
time for processing.
Typical visa processing time at the London visa section is 48 hours. At the other sections it
can take upto 7 working days to get your visa.
It is very important that you show Annual Travel Insurance from a reputed insurer so as to
procure a 6 month multiple entry visa. Do not be surprised if they give you a visa whose validity starts and ends with your trip dates.
You need to make a visit in person on the day of the appointment carrying all documents.
Interview and other fomalities will get over in half an hour and you will get a date when you
can come and collect the visa. Visa collection is between 12 and 1 pm on the scheduled date.
