Current Wimbledon Champion, Winner 2006
Wimbledon is most famous for the tennis tournament. I used to see all finals on TV before I got an opportunity to see it in person.
I visited Wimbledon Tennis Tournament first in June 2001 and fell in love with the place.

Swiss professional tennis player whose achievements
to date rank him among the most successful tennis

He has been ranked number 1 since February 2004,
and, as of September 2006, he holds the third-longest
consecutive stay in the World No. 1. Only Jimmy
Connors and Ivan Lendl have had longer unbroken
streaks at number one. In 2004, Federer became
the first man since Mats Wilander in 1988 to
win three out of the four Grand Slam singles
tournaments in the same year.
In 2006, Federer repeated this feat. He has
won 9 Grand Slam men's singles titles in 30
appearances, 2 Tennis Masters Cup, and 11 ATP
Masters Series singles titles. He is the only
player in tennis history to have won both the
Wimbledon and US Open's singles title in three
consecutive years (2004-2006). |

Open and 2006 Wimbledon.
Mauresmo
first attained the top ranking on September
13, 2004, holding it for five weeks on that
occasion. She was the 14th World No. 1 in women's
tennis since the computer rankings began. She
is well known for her powerful one-handed backhand
(a rarity in women's tennis). |

Wimbledon
Travel: You can travel to Wimbledon by train
from London. Other way that I prefer is to go
to East Croydon (underground station) and from
there take a tram to Wimbledon (20 minutes)
